Members of Tube City Writers, a program of the McKeesport Community Newsroom, held their Sixth Annual storytelling event on July 24 at the Carnegie Free Library of McKeesport.

Meeting this year’s theme of Acts of Courage, our writers explored what it means to be courageous in today’s world by highlighting examples of bravery big and small. They interviewed community members who, despite their fears and uncertainties, overcame obstacles to help others and challenge the status quo.

The following stories feature those brave individuals from around the Mon Valley whose acts of courage have made a positive impact in the region.
